Mission Hills

Everything can look handled from the street, and that is often part of the problem.

Washington Street and Goldfinch, Presidio Park, and Pioneer Park. An established professional neighborhood about five minutes northwest of the office.

The Place

What it is actually like here

Mission Hills runs northwest of Bankers Hill along Washington Street, with the small commercial stretch around Goldfinch at its middle and Presidio Park and Pioneer Park at its edges. It is one of the older established neighborhoods in the city, with large houses on curving streets and long-tenured residents.

The office is about five minutes away, which makes this one of the closest neighborhoods to it. Coming down Washington and turning south gets you to First Avenue and West Maple quickly, even at the busier hours.

Getting Here

Getting to the office

From Goldfinch and Washington, head east on Washington and then south on First Avenue to West Maple. Five minutes is realistic on most days.

Interstate 5 is close to the west side of the neighborhood if you are coming from further out and joining Washington from the freeway.

Street parking near the office is metered or time-limited on weekdays and easier on Sundays. The monthly in-person day is a Sunday, so most in-person clients park on the street without difficulty.

It is worth reading the schedule honestly before you book. Most of my work is telehealth, Monday through Friday. In-person sessions are limited to one Sunday a month at the Bankers Hill office, and those slots fill ahead of time.

Why People Write From Here

The pressures particular to this place

This is a neighborhood of people who have arrived: senior professionals, physicians and attorneys, business owners, families who have been in the same house for fifteen years. From the outside everything is handled, and that appearance is not fake. It is accurate and incomplete at the same time, and the gap between those two is where most of this work lives.

When competence is the identity, asking for help costs more. People here often wait until there is a defensible reason: a health scare, a child struggling, a marriage that has gone quiet. They will bring the defensible reason to the first session and the actual reason around session four, and that is a normal sequence rather than a failure of honesty.

The other pressure here is time of life. Aging parents, adult children, a career that is either peaking or shifting, and a marriage that has been running on logistics for a while. None of that arrives as a crisis. It accumulates, and then one ordinary Tuesday it is unignorable.

Where to Start

Four places this usually begins

Anxiety Therapy

High-functioning anxiety in people who have never let it show at work.

Couples Therapy

For long marriages that are running smoothly on logistics and short on contact.

Grief and Loss

For aging parents, and for losses that were absorbed rather than felt.

Next-Level Performance

For senior professionals who are performing well and want to stop paying for it privately.

Questions

Answered plainly

Anything not covered here is worth asking on the free 15-minute consult.

How close is your office to Mission Hills?

About five minutes. From Washington Street and Goldfinch you head east and turn south onto First Avenue to reach 2560 First Ave, Suite 202.

How often can I be seen in person?

In-person sessions are limited. I hold one Sunday a month at the Bankers Hill office, and those slots are booked ahead. Everything else runs by secure video, Monday through Friday. Most of my clients are telehealth clients from the first session onward, and the work is not a lesser version of the room.

Is telehealth as useful as sitting in the room?

For the work I do, yes, and for a lot of people it is more practical. Anxiety work, EMDR, and couples work all translate to video. What matters more than the format is whether you have a private hour and a door that closes. If you do not have that at home, we will talk about where else the hour could happen.

Do you take insurance?

I am private pay. Individual sessions are $210 or $325 for 90 minutes, and couples are $225 or $345 for 90 minutes. Superbills are available on request if you have out-of-network benefits. There is more detail on the FAQ and Fees page.

What is your cancellation policy?

Twenty-four hours, and I hold it firmly. The hour is reserved for you, and late cancellations are charged at the full session fee.
