High-Achieving Professionals
Maybe you are the person everyone counts on, and it has been a while since anyone asked how you are.
For the person whose calendar has no white space and whose sense of self is fused with output. We work on the engine underneath the achievement, not the achievement itself.

Overview
Where this usually starts
Look at your calendar. Not the meetings, the space between them. For most of the people I see in this category there is none. The day is built end to end, and the small gaps that do appear get filled before they can be felt. That is not an accident of a busy season. It is a system, and it has been running for years, and it works, which is the reason nobody has questioned it.
The cost shows up somewhere else. In the hour before sleep. In how little you have left for the people at home. In the strange flatness after something goes well. You are not failing at anything, so there is no obvious moment to stop and look at it. That moment usually has to be made on purpose, and that is what this work is.

The specifics, not a symptom list
Open any line to see how I would think about it with you.
Maybe there is no white space anywhere in your week.Open
We start by looking at an actual week, hour by hour, rather than at how you describe your week. People are usually surprised by what shows up: not the volume, but where the dread clusters. Then we decide what one protected hour would cost you, honestly, and whether you can pay it.
If you are not producing, it can feel like you are not yourself.Open
When identity is fused with output, rest reads as a kind of disappearing. We separate the two carefully, because pulling them apart too fast leaves people feeling untethered. The goal is a version of you that still exists on a slow Sunday.
For some people, slowing down feels like the beginning of falling behind.Open
That belief is usually old and specific, and it came from somewhere real. We find where, using parts work, and we test the belief against what actually happens in your life now rather than arguing with it.
Being competent can make it harder to ask for help.Open
You are the person others come to. There is no established role in your life for you being the one who needs something. We work on the practical version of asking, in low-stakes places first, until it stops feeling like a status change.
Maybe you got the promotion and felt almost nothing.Open
When achievement is a way of managing fear, arriving does not land as relief. It lands as the pause before the next thing. We look at where satisfaction is going and why it never gets to stay.
Fit
Who this is for, and who it is not
It is worth knowing before you book, so neither of us spends four sessions finding out.
A Good Fit
- Things look steady by every external measure, and something underneath still feels off.
- You would like tools that hold up in a hard week, and you are also open to looking at where the pattern started.
- A weekly hour is something you can protect, rather than the first thing that moves.
- You would rather have a therapist who is honest with you than one who is simply agreeable.
Not the Right Fit
- If you need crisis or inpatient-level care, or care that requires psychiatric management, I am not the right person and I will help you find the right level of care instead.
- If you are looking for executive coaching, performance strategy, or business advice, this is not that. This is clinical therapy that happens to be with high performers.
- If you want a therapist who will only reflect back what you say, I am probably too direct.
If you are in crisis, call or text 988. If I am not the right clinician for what you are carrying, I will say so and help you find someone who is.
What We Work On
Three things, in order
The nervous system, before the narrative
If your body is running at a constant low alarm, insight does not get very far. We start with regulation you can use in a meeting, in a car, at two in the morning. That makes the rest of the work possible.
The rule that runs the schedule
Almost everyone here is living by a rule they never chose out loud. If I stop, something is lost. We find the sentence, find out how old it is, and give the part of you that wrote it something better to do.
What you want, separated from what you fear
You have real ambition and you also have fear wearing ambition's clothes. Getting specific about which decisions came from which one changes what you say yes to next quarter.

Is this therapy or is it coaching?
It is therapy. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, California License #83173, and the work is clinical. We may talk about your career because your career is most of your life, but I am not advising you on it.
I can only do early mornings or lunch. Does that work?
Telehealth sessions run Monday through Friday anywhere in California, and in-person sessions in Bankers Hill are one Sunday a month. Availability varies, and the free 15-minute consult is the right place to check whether my open times and yours overlap before you plan around it.
How long does this usually take?
It depends on what you are bringing and how long it has been running. Some people come for a focused stretch of a few months around one thing. Others stay longer for the deeper work. I do not make guarantees about timelines, and I will tell you honestly what I think as we go.
Will I have to stop being ambitious?
No. The goal is not a smaller life. It is that the drive belongs to you rather than the other way around. Most people find they keep the ambition and lose the part that could never enjoy any of it.
What happens in the first session?
We walk through an actual recent week in detail, and I ask about history where it is relevant. By the end you will have a sense of what I think is going on and what I would suggest we work on first. If I do not think I am the right fit, I will say so in that session.
Free 15-Minute Consult
Fifteen minutes to find out whether this is the right work.
Tell me what is actually going on. I will tell you honestly how I would approach it, and whether I am the right person for it.
In person in San Diego, and by telehealth across California.
